1969 Pontiac Firebird Rear Quarter Restoration The owner of this 1969 Pontiac Firebird has had it since the 70’s. The car had been hit on the left and right hand rear quarters some time ago, although the rest of the Firebird was in excellent shape. It was now time for a full restoration and to get the process started the owner requested the services of The Metal Surgeon. For this post, we’ll concentrate on the left hand rear quarter of the 1969 Firebird. After giving the car a once over and taking in a story or two of the the cars life from the owner, we decided to save the rear quarters because the rest of the car had all the original sheet metal. I began by metal finishing the crumpled rear quarter with the aid of a spoon, various dollies, and a file, to take down the high spots and bring up the low areas to look as it did the day the 1969 Pontiac Firebird left the factory.
